We don’t mean to alarm anyone but National Doughnut Week is happening right now.
Millennial food fads might actually be making us thinner
From 6 to 13 May, in fact, and it’s all for a good cause.
National Doughnut Week is all about raising funds for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury… and doughnuts, of course.
Today we ask you, could this be The Ultimate Doughnut?
It’s got all the ingredients for perfection.
A doughnut? Check.
Peanut butter? Check.
Banana and caramel? Double Check.
BEHOLD, THE ELVIS
You will need
2 x strips of streaky bacon
a sprinkle of freeze dried strawberries
1 teaspoon of maple syrup
1 shard of Jackpot peanut butter* honeycomb
1 teaspoon of Jackpot peanut butter* mixed with 1 tablespoon of salted caramel
1/2 a banana caramelised with a sprinkle of caster sugar and topped with a sprinkle of hundreds and thousands
Filled with a tablespoon of Philadelphia cream cheese and bacon Jam
*Jackpot peanut butter has the most indulgent texture, perfect for this recipe.
What you do
Stack those ingredients sky high… and get ready for the sugar rush of a lifetime.
Remember, Elvis wasn’t exactly the picture of health… nor was his diet one we would normally recommend.
But Doughnut Week only comes around once a year… so we say, go for it.
For those who don’t want to recreate this monstrosity at home – you can grab one from the Rockadollar at Hackney Pearl (11 Prince Edward Road, E9 5LX).
